Good old dirt and worms. Doug and I often get these, made with ice cream, from Fosters Freeze in town, but this is a smaller, make-at-home version. They're covered with plastic in my photo because I was getting ready to transport them to church for a meeting. And I still managed to make a mess in my car...
- 4 Tbsp butter, softened
- 1 8oz package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 1/2 cups whole milk
- 2 packages (3 1/2 oz) instant vanilla pudding
- 1 12-oz container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 20-oz package Oreo cookies, crushed with a rolling pin
- gummy worms
- 14 9-oz plastic cups
Cream butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar. In a separate bowl mix milk, pudding, and whipped topping. Combine both mixtures to make filling. Divide a third of the crushed cookies in the bottom of each cup. Using half the filling mixture, divide it among the cups and top with another third of the cookies. Add the remainder of the filling and top with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate overnight. Before serving add edible flowers, gummy worms, and or plastic spiders to the cups.
NOTES: I followed the instructions and made these the night before, but I would recommend, if possible, making them shortly before serving. Having them sit overnight made the cookie component super mushy. I'm used to a little crunch with the cookie topping and having it soggy was just weird.
I added 4 worms to each cup.
Serves 14
Total Time: 15 minutes plus overnight chilling
