Homemade Nachos

If you're looking for something a little different than regular old tacos, don't forget how easy it can be to make some stellar nachos! This recipe makes for a great spin on our lazy night taco recipe. I almost always have some ground beef frozen and some taco seasoning. Just grab some tortilla chips and the rest is up to your creativity.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 Tbsp taco seasoning
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 bag tortilla chips
  • 1 jar (16 oz) salsa
  • 2+ cups cheddar, Mexican blend, or your favorite cheese
  • topping suggestions: chopped red onion, guacamole, sour cream, black beans, sliced black olives
In a skillet, brown ground beef at low-medium heat on the stove until cooked through. Pour off extra fat from meat and return to heat. Add taco seasoning and water. Mix well and cover. Let simmer for at least 5 minutes.

While the meat is simmering, preheat oven to 350 degrees and fill a 9x13 inch pan with an even layer of tortilla chips. Top chips with cheese, meat, and salsa. Add optional toppings as desired. Place in oven until cheese is melted.

Serves 3-4  as an entrĂ©e

Total Time: 20 minutes
