Chocolate Bat Bites

Halloween is just around the corner! If you're heading to a party this weekend, or if your kid has a school function, this is a really easy, minimal ingredient recipe for you.
  • 1 bag Reese's Cups, unwrapped
  • at least 7 Oreo or other chocolate sandwich cookies
  • white frosting
  • edible eyes
Twist open cookies and gently scrape out cream (save for another recipe). Cut each cookie in half, making four "wings" from each Oreo. Use a dot of frosting to stick the back of the "wings" to Reese's cup. Pipe frosting onto back of edible eyes and secure at the top center of the Reese's cup.

NOTES: The recipe called for miniature Reese's cups. First off, that's a tiny bat. Second off, no one likes the miniatures anyway! I used full-size cups.

The recipe also called for Oreo Thins. Seriously, who thought thinner Oreos was a good thing? Give me Double Stuf any day. Anyway, I used Thins. They are thin. Like, break before they come out of the package, thin because not only is the cream filling thinner, the cookies are thinner. If you don't want to waste half the package of Oreos, I suggest using the regular ones.

I didn't want to go searching for edible eyes, so I used white and black frosting and made my own creepy eyes. I think edible ones would be cuter, but I was on a bit of a time crunch.

I would also recommend not making these too far in advance. I kept my bats stored in an air-tight container in the fridge for 2 days and I still felt like my wings were a bit stale by the time I ate them.

Serves about 15

Total Time: 20 minutes
