Lemonade Chicken

My mom gave me this recipe a looooooong time ago and I don't think I've ever tried it (sorry Mom!). I was a little unsure of the flavor when I looked at the ingredients (lemonade AND soy sauce?) but oddly enough they blended together really well. The sweetness of the lemonade dulls the saltiness of the soy sauce.

Also, I learned something new. Some of the terminology in recipes is stuff I have heard for years and never really known what it meant. A lot of it is stuff I should know, but have been too lazy to go and look it up (yup, that's me, too lazy to Google). I used to just guess and make do with what I could figure out from the recipes but now I really want to get this stuff right. There is a reason somebody said to slice it this way or rub it this way instead of sprinkling and such. So anyway, phrase I was unsure of this week: fryer parts of chicken.

As you will read in a future post, I recently bought my first whole chicken at the store. Normally I buy the bags of frozen chicken breasts and use that for everything. Again, I'm trying to do this right so I looked up "chicken fryer parts" online. Well, what do you know, fryer parts are the bags of frozen chicken parts! I always get breasts but you can get the thighs, wings and such as well, depending on what you want to make. So, without further ado, here's the recipe.
  • 2-3 lbs fryer parts chicken
  • 6 oz thawed frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder

Blend everything together and dip the chicken in it. Grill, brushing frequently the last 10 minutes with lemon mixture.

Simple as that!

Serves: 8
Prep Time: 15 min
Total Time: 20 min

Recipe from my mom!
