Doug always adds Santa Maria seasoning to his eggs, even before we've tasted the original recipe. This recipe was no different. To be honest, it probably could have used more. I like all the ingredients, but none of them have a bunch of punch, flavor-wise. My answer to everything is garlic. Santa Maria seasoning has that plus a lot more so it's a safe bet for improving the meal.
- 1 tube crescent dough sheet
- 6 eggs
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup diced ham
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1/4 cup diced bell pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Unroll and spread dough on lightly greased cookie sheet. Spread half the ham down the middle third of the dough.
Melt 1 Tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat. Saute onions and peppers until tender. Remove vegetables from pan and set aside.
Beat eggs till well-blended. Melt another Tbsp of butter in pan. Scramble eggs till set. Spread scrambled eggs down the middle of the dough, over the ham. Spread remaining half down the middle of the dough over the eggs. Spread onions and peppers down the middle of the dough, over the ham. Spread cheese over meat and vegetable mixture.
Cut each side of the dough into 1/2 inch strips. Alternating sides, fold strips inward at an angle to form a braid.
Melt remaining Tbsp butter. Brush top of braid with melted butter. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or till golden brown.
