Mississippi Sin Ham Sliders

Super rich. And messy. Those are the words I would use to describe this meal. We ate these as a main course, but you could serve them as appetizers. However, they do get cool fast so that could make leaving them out at a party not such a good option.

We liked these, but probably won't make them again. We all decided they weren't worth the effort. And I went the lazy route and just used sandwich meat ham and pre-made the bacon. Also, they don't stay together too well. By putting the spread on the top AND bottom, the ham just slides around inside and squishes out the side when you try to bite into it. Not ideal for a party food.
  • 1/2 pound thick-cut smoked bacon, cooked and chopped into small pieces
  • 3 lb boneless ham
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 10 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup scallions, minced
  • dash of hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 dozen soft, pull-apart slider rolls
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice ham into thin slices and set aside. In a large bowl, add the cheeses, sour cream, mayonnaise, scallions, sauces and spices. Add bacon and mix to combine.

Slice rolls in half and divide the cheese spread between the tops and bottoms of all the rolls. Divide the ham between all rolls and then cover with top of roll.

Place each slider into a 9 x 13 inch (or larger, if needed) baking dish. Brush tops of the rolls with melted butter, cover with parchment paper and foil and bake for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes. Remove from oven and serve immediately.

NOTES: They do reheat fairly well. We stored them in our fridge in the 9 x 13 pan with foil over them and I just popped one in our toaster oven to reheat it. The bread got a little browner, but it did alright.

We used Hawaiian rolls for our sliders. I couldn't find any actual slider buns at WinCo. And if you used regular size hamburger buns, it would be waaaaaayy too much.

Makes 18 sliders
