I am trying to learn more about cooking and eating things that are in season. This time of year is supposedly good for asparagus. Which, lucky for me, is one of the few vegetables I like. This is a simple recipe, but adds enough flavor to spice things up a bit. And to top it off, it doesn't take long to make!
- Coarse salt and ground pepper
- 1 1/2 lb asparagus, trimmed
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Bring 2 inches salted water to a boil in a wide (10 inch) saucepan or skillet. Place the asparagus in saucepan, cook until just tender, 5-8 minutes. Drain well in a colander. Return asparagus to pan, toss with butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
