Salted Chocolate Puppy Chow with Pretzels

Personally, I don't see the huge draw that is salted, well, everything nowadays. I get that it's a contrast of the sweet and salty, but most of the time, it just means I am enjoying a delicious mouthful of wonderful chocolate and then my taste buds go "WHOA! That is NOT chocolate!"

I just might make a face like this:
    or like this:

But I digress. Apparently some people really like it, just not me. :-) So for those of you who are not of the same mind as I am, feel free to enjoy this (admittedly still tasty, even for me) recipe.
  • 7 cups Chex or Crispex cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter, smooth
  • 1 3/4 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 1/2 cups brownie mix
  • 3 cups pretzels
Measure out cereal into a large bowl. In a microwave proof bowl, melt chocolate and peanut butter together and stir until smooth (heat for 30 second increments to prevent burning of the chocolate). Pour over cereal and gently fold until coated. Sprinkle salt over cereal.

Pour brownie mix into a zip top bag and dump cereal mixture inside. Seal the bag and shake to coat. Pour contents of bag onto cookie sheet to cool and harden. Mix with pretzels and serve.

Serves 12

Total Time: 10 minutes
