Pomegranate Margaritas

This was pretty tasty. I had some trouble finding pomegranate juice, but eventually found some. Most were blends of pomegranate and something else. I think I ended up with Langer's brand. Simple enough recipe, but a little fancier than plain old margaritas. It's nice for something different every once in a while, isn't it?
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 3/4 cup tequila
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 6 limes)
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur
  • ice cubes
  • optional garnish of orange and lime slices
Stir together sugar and hot water until sugar is dissolved. Stir in pomegranate juice and next 3 ingredients. Pour desired amount of pomegranate juice mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Cover with lid and shake 30 seconds, or until thoroughly chilled. remove lid, strain into chilled cocktail glasses. Garnish if desired.
