Turkey Tacos

I have had some ground turkey in my freezer for a good long while. I must have purchased it couponing and then forgot about it. Anyway, I stumbled across it the other night and decided, why not? Let's get this out of the freezer and make way for new stuff!

Doug and I both thought it was an ok recipe. It really doesn't taste any different than ground beef tacos, though if you're trying to avoid red meat, this is a simple way to go. The seasoning they used was a bit bland, so I would spice it up a bit with a little extra seasoning and let it simmer to soak in.
  • 1 lb ground turkey, pre-seasoned
  • 1/3 cup chopped red onion
  • 8 oz provolone cheese
  • shredded lettuce
  • salsa to taste
  • tortillas
Cook meat and onions in skillet for about 10 minutes, or till cooked through. Add water, if needed, and allow to simmer, covered, for 5 minutes.

Serve with desired toppings on warm tortillas.

NOTES: I used Jennie-O pre-seasoned taco meat turkey. I also chose provolone cheese instead of the usual cheddar or Mexican blend because think about it, what type of cheese do you put on a turkey sandwich? Not cheddar! Usually provolone or Swiss.
