Lance's Own French Toast

At least Tyler enjoyed the French Toast
I have no idea who Lance is, but this recipe found in Family Circle sounded like a cool variation of the tried and true French Toast recipe. Maybe it's because I smother my French Toast in syrup and powdered sugar, but this didn't taste much different from a normal French Toast. You couldn't even taste the pepper.
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 12 slices whole wheat bread
  • sugar and additional ground cinnamon, optional
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, honey, cinnamon and pepper. Dip bread in egg mixture, cook on greased hot griddle for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Cut into decorative shapes and sprinkle with sugar and additional cinnamon if desired.

CHALLENGE: Since this recipe didn't end up being as special/different as I thought it would be, why don't you try to make your own variation and let me know how it goes. I'll take French Toast or pancake variations. Give your kid a bowl with egg and milk and then they can add their own special ingredient(s). Toast the bread and see how it tastes. You never know what you can come up with. Maybe we will have my next blog post be about your recipe!
