Tequila Sunrise Mimosa

A few months ago I got together with my friends and we decided to make a couple cocktails at home to taste, share, and split the cost. We made three champagne-based drinks in one night, all unique, all pretty good.

This was the coolest looking drink of the bunch. Since it was made to go in a champagne flute (which we didn't have), we significantly increased the numbers in order to fill our cup. I left the numbers below as the flute-size portions.

  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz tequila
  • 2 oz champagne
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
Pour orange juice and tequila into champagne flute or wine glass; top with 2 oz champagne. Slowly pour grenadine on top.

NOTES: Somewhere long ago I learned that if you're trying to keep layers separate in a drink, you should pour it over a spoon. It prevents the gravity of dumping the next ingredient in from mixing all the pretty colors.
