Soft Sugar Cookies

Ok ok, I know it's in the title, but these are REALLY soft. Almost too soft. I cooked them until they started turning golden brown on the top, but I probably should have cooked them according to the directions. Maybe they would have firmed up more?

And sadly, they don't have very much flavor. I would definitely add more vanilla. I'll update the recipe below with my best guess. So the story behind this recipe is that Tyler's friends know I have this blog apparently. One of them sent over their sugar cookie recipe and Tyler said we had to try it. The recipe I got was a screenshot of a Notepad recipe typed up. So there is a very real possibility an ingredient was missed at some point. Nevertheless, we tried it, and I will record it here.

  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla
  • 4 cups flour

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream sugar and Crisco, add eggs one at a time and keep beating till smooth. Dissolve baking soda into sour cream and add to sugar mixture. Work in flour and vanilla.

Drop by spoonfuls onto baking sheet, about 1 inch apart. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
