Meyer Lemon Margarita

VERY strong. If you like strong margaritas, this one is for you. I added some more lemon and simple syrup to balance things out a but, but whew! Man! It was a bit much for me. I'll leave the recipe as I found it, but feel free to modify to your taste.

I know these are martini glasses and
not margarita glasses. It's what we
had available!

  • 4 Meyer lemons
  • 2 Tbsp sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 4 oz Agave or Reposado tequila
  • 4 oz Triple Sec (Cointreau)
  • 1 cup ice
Zest 2 of the lemons to make about 1 Tbsp lemon zest. In a small bowl, add sea salt, sugar, and lemon zest; mix. Place on a shallow plate. Wet the rim of each margarita glass and rim glasses by placing upside down into the sugar/salt mixture.

Juice all lemons, using a sieve to avoid any seeds. In a large cocktail shaker, add 1 cup ice cubes, 4 oz lemon juice, 4 oz Cointreau, and 4 oz tequila. Cover and shake well with ice. Gently strain into margarita glasses. Serve with a garnish of lemon and cilantro, if desired.

Serves 2

Total Time: 10 minutes
