Flaky Cheddar-Chive Biscuits

I tried to make these, thinking they would taste like the ones at Red Lobster. I'm not really sure what went wrong. Well not wrong, per se, just not right. All the ingredients are great and they didn't taste bad, it just didn't taste like anything. Just a blah biscuit.
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup (4oz) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 Tbsp minced fresh chives
  • 1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk the first five ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in cheese and chives. Add buttermilk; stir just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8-10 times.

Pat or roll dough to 3/4 inch thickness; cut with a floured 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
