Evergreen Cream Cocktail

I recently had some girlfriends over for a Hallmark Channel Christmas Movie Watch Party and we drank some of these. They were really good, though some thought strong. If you're looking to tone it down just a smidge, double the cream and you should be good.

  • 2 oz creme de menthe
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 6 oz Irish cream liquor
  • 2 oz half and half
  • 4-8 small candy canes
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
Crush the candy canes to small pieces. Place in a saucer or small bowl. Microwave white chocolate chips until melted (start with 15 seconds and stir often) in a shallow bowl that will fit your serving glass rim. Dip the rim of your beverage glasses in the chocolate and then the crushed candy cane. Let set.

Add all liquid ingredients to a strainer with lots of ice and shake well to chill thoroughly. Strain drink into glasses and serve.

NOTES: The crushed candy canes harden quickly. I had a plate of it ready to go after I made up my initial round of glasses. I don't know if it was moisture in the air or just the nature of candy, but when I went to make another round, I had to find some more candy dust because the items on the plate were stuck together in a giant peppermint rock. Luckily, what I'd done was store a lot of the candy dust in a small cup, covered with cling wrap. I only sprinkled out what I thought I needed for the cups I was making. The cling wrap seemed to be just enough to prevent the dust in the cup from becoming a huge pink blob.

Also, I didn't have half and half. I had heavy cream, which worked just fine. I mixed all the alcohol ahead of time and just added the cream as I was serving the drinks. It worked out well and saved me some time at the party.
