S'mores Peanut Butter Bars

I read this recipe and chose it simply because it sounded easy and I needed something simple to make. Not only was the recipe simple, it is now going to be a household favorite. It will probably put us all in a diabetic coma, but....well you will die happy.

I saw the ingredients and immediately decided to make some changes. For one thing, I hate coconut. Another, the original calls for butterscotch chips. I have nothing against butterscotch, but I already had some peanut butter chips in my kitchen that I wanted to use up. I will post my version of the recipe first, then the original "Magic Bars" below. Try one, try them both. Let me know which you prefer!
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter chips
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups small marshmallows
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and pour into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Mix in graham cracker crumbs, making sure they are sprinkled evenly over the bottom of the pan. Pour condensed milk over the crumbs, then layer chocolate and peanut butter chips evenly. Bake for 25 minutes. Leaving the dish in the hot oven, sprinkle marshmallows evenly over the top. Close oven and allow marshmallows to melt and toast for 5 minutes before removing dish to cool. Allow to cool completely and then cut into small servings (it is very rich).
