Electric Lemonade

For those of us on the west coast where it's nice and sunny and not at all winter-like weather, you may be looking for some special drinks to cool you off. I need simple recipes this time of year (tax season) so I've been looking at a lot of drink recipes and then just cooking stuff from the freezer for my family to save time on meals. Tax season, plus the fact that Tyler is in baseball this year and Doug is assistant coaching means we never really sit down for dinner anymore. Here's to hoping that changes soon.

  • 1.5 oz citron vodka
  • 1/2 oz blue curacao
  • 2 oz sweet and sour mix
  • 12 oz can lemon-lime soda
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges for garnish
Fill a Collins glass with ice. Pour in vodka, blue curacao and sour mix. Fill to the top with soda. Garnish with lemon wedge and serve with straw.

NOTES: For those of you like me who don't know the intricacies of bartending, as far as I can tell, a Collins glass is the tall skinny one. We used a large glass just because it needs to hold a lot of liquid with the soda. I guess you don't have to use the whole can, but we did. Then we also added more vodka and blue curacao afterwards because you couldn't taste them.

This is a really colorful drink and great if you need something that stands out at a party. The blue is hard to miss. Would be great for a beach or underwater themed party.
